Artist's Description

THE last blank canvas in Hosier Lane has been transformed into an arresting 23-metre portrait. Melbourne artist Adnate was invited to paint the previously unreachable piece of the city’s most famous street-art precinct. His giant painting of an Indigenous boy now overlooks Melbourne’s most prominent Aboriginal site, Birrarung Marr. The artist was granted access to wall, at the rear of the McDonald House building, when scaffolding was brought in for repairs. He was commissioned as part of a $20,000 Hosier Inc project, Paint Up!, which is a collection of local residents, artists and community members.
Adnate said his portrait was designed to represent and empower Indigenous culture.
