My absolute favorite flower since I can remember. My Grandmother used to grow Zinnias along with many other flowers in rows like you would crops on their farm. The colors seemed as if they went on for ever. Early every Saturday morning my Grandfather would drive into town with the bed of his pickup truck filled with buckets of what ever flowers were in bloom at the time. He would bring them to me and I would bundle them up and go door to door selling them until they were all gone. It was my idea. I wanted to make money and knew I would have to earn it. I started that at eight years old and did it until I was around 13 & loved doing it. That was back in the 50’s when it was safe for a child in a small town to go door to door. Now that I think about it I made more money then than I do now! Really do like this shot, love all of the soft color in the background.

Hi Melinda…oh I so enjoyed your story…thank you so much for sharing. It is my favorite flower as well…and I grow them in rows…and rows…and rows!!! The colours, shapes and sizes are of such a wonderful variety…I absolutely love them. Yes, the 50’s were a wonderful time for kids…I remember being able to head outside as a little tyke right after breakfast and not come home till it was time to eat (maybe)and I went pretty much anywhere I pleased…parents didn’t worry back then. (A pleasant memory for us vintage folks, eh?) Thanks so much for the fave too. Cheers!
