They are truly remarkable.”The Water Lily or the Lotus flower is symbolic of rebirth, but in addition to its religious meaning, the lotus is also a symbol of all that is true, good and beautiful, representing good fortune, peace and enlightenment.”

You probably think that Jackson Pollack’s imagination and work product could be only oddly compared to this wonderful moment. And yet.. there are those who say that photographers capture only the accidental moment and that we merely portray serendipity. Pollack wrote, “I deny the accident… the result is the thing.”

You prove that an artist’s result concludes for her viewers… which is an action that goes way beyond accidents. Thanks Karen for interpreting perfection.

  • Karen Tillotson replied

Ted…such a fascinating comment! Pollack of course feverishly attacked his creations from all sides and physically immersed himself into his work with whatever paint & tools were at hand. Having nearly crawled into the smelly water to achieve this viewpoint (which indeed was no accident!) I’m very flattered by your observation & compliments. Thank you very much.

  • Melinda Stewart Page

    Melinda Stewar...

Oh Karen, this just pulls me in. I know it is a wonderful reflection but it is so perfect that I had to check back once or twice just to be sureit was and not just the underside of the flower. The colors, light, dof and focus are just perfect. Now about your dogs thinking you were crazy, in your jammies, laying on the ground first thing in the morning, by the smelly pond, do you really have a defense?

  • Karen Tillotson replied

Hi Melinda…thanks so much for such a wonderful comment…and no, I had absolutely no defense…the dogs are convinced and rightfully so…hahaha.
