20th Century Friends

Where do we meet the people we call friends? And more importantly what makes us want to be friends with someone?

Friendships during the very young years usually start out revolved around toys and games. “Wow, Bobby really has neat stuff, let’s play at his house.” Seems some people hang onto those criteria even when they are old.

My first life long friend was the girl that lived across the street. I was in first grade and she was in second. My family just moved into the neighborhood and as it turned out we were the only girls on a street full of little boys. Right there was a reason to be friends. We always had to stick together while playing with the boys and maybe it was that faithfulness to our gender that turned into friendship. Over the years we did become really good friends.…
