Copper Harbor, Michigan, USA
Fireweed, also called Rosebay Willowherb, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the willowherb family. It’s range is throughout the US except the southeastern states and Texas.
It occurs in maritime to climates with short warm summers and long, cold winters.
A native plant, it grows along roads, recently burned woodland, conifer and deciduous forests in dry shady areas in summer and fall. It got it’s name as it is one of the first plants to grow after a fire.
