From the first time wonder in the eyes down to the sugar drool running down the chin, it’s just gorgeous. The perfect keepsake. Excellent work Karen.
You can imagine how delighted I was to get this commission Jim – it’s always much more fun and satisfying when you have a lovely little model like this one. Thank you so much for your kind words too!!! :)

A portrait for a lifetime : ) This girl’s parents must be thrilled! Le’ extraordinaire bon oui oui file joli est other words that ain’t english!
You always put a smile on my face Phillip – I think it was a Birthday gift for Lola’s Grandma – hopefully she was happy!!! :)
Absolutely brilliant work Karen. It amazes me how you are always on the hunt for new mediums and surfaces whereas I go into a cold sweat when the stocks of my favourite illustration board get low. Great stuff.
LOL – I do a bit of the cold sweat stuff too Gary. I do have my favourites, but then I just have this feeling that there is a miracle combination of materials out there that would help me achieve what I want to achieve. It should be more about the artist and the techniques rather than the materials, but I still keep hoping for miracles!!! :)

What you achieve with coloured pencils is simply mind blowing, a beautiful portrait Karen.
What a lovely thing to say Norah – I have tried the full range of mediums, but always come back to the coloured pencils so I think we must be a good fit for each other :)
Karen, this is incredibly life-like! I thought it was a photograph from the thumbnail! Wow! Great work! :)

Excellent work! I almost NEVER fave a baby, not being a big fan of children, but this is so excellent it deserves a fave. Wonderful light and expression, great contrast and composiotn. The eyes and drool are really cool…as much as drool can be.
Ha ha Cindy – I do know exactly what you mean, so I will take that as a wonderful compliment and I’m thrilled you like it!!! :)
