Wonderful! Love the grain in the wood, the texture in the crust … in fact everything!
Thank you so much Carol – I’m thrilled you like it!!! :)
Another wonderful drawing from you. Couldn’t you share just one little piece with them? I know I would, but then I am weird! LOL A little mouse was my first pet as a child. It was the only pet that I could have that was small enough to hide from my parents. She was a little white mouse with black spots and I just loved her, she was so sweet. Karen I so enjoy seeing your special work.
LOL – I would too Melinda. The mice in this image are actually our own, but I had to change their colouring to make them look more like ‘house mice’ and less like pets. We have mice and rats, much to the frustration of my husband, but they truly are endearing pets and thank you for your very kind comments!!! :)
Now I’m wondering Karen … is that a real breadboard that you’ve drawn on? ;)
It is Carol – I recently started drawing on wood, and then decided that rather than simply using the wood as a surface to draw on, I should somehow make it a part of the artwork. Not sure how it will be accepted into exhibitions, as my plan is to present it as is without a frame, but it’s fun for something different :)
Wow this is fantastic Karen it looks like a photo.Excellent work and a fave. x
Thank you Irene – I was hoping to make it look as real as possible so the viewer is left wondering, so thank you for your lovely feedback!!! xx
It’s a great idea, and you’ve done a brilliant job!
Aren’t you lovely – thank you for that feedback Carol :)
What a beautiful piece you have created, love it !!!!!!!!
Jan I’m thrilled you like it – thank you – it’s always a bit of a risk when you try something different, and wonderful to know when it is appreciated :)
For a moment when I looked at this fabulous drawing I thought it was a photo Karen, outstanding work as always.
Thankyou Nikonuser – I was really aiming for photorealism here, so that’s the best feedback possible :))
That is one of the best examples of Trompe L’Oeil I have seen. I can’t believe I didn’t notice it before. I guess that is the first sign of just how good it is. Fooled my eye! That is one thing I have never tried, but have been tempted. Done well as you have is magical. Can’t wait to see your next piece. I had not noticed that you were painting on wood now. Nothing better stay put to close to you are it just might get some paint on it! LOL
Trompe L’Oeil is one of my absolute favourite genres Melinda, and I was tempted to call this an attempt at Trompe L’Oeil but wasn’t sure it would fit the criteria, so I really am so happy you think it does. I am just bursting with ideas to try out for this style of work, but for the next couple of months I have to buckle down and get some illustration jobs done, so it might be a little while before I get the chance to do some more of these.
Thank you heaps Fran!!! :)
