Full time artist and illustrator, specialising in realistic images in a range of mediums, but particularly favouring coloured pencils.
So very lovely, such a sweet scene. Love the texture
Thank you so much Pinkyjain – I actually stopped working on the cavas because of the texture (because it didn’t reproduce well in prints), so it is interesting that you like it.

Sad is it not? How many souls have this to bare. You have succeeded in conveying to us Bonny Lass the need for us to have more caring of our old and treasured ones.
The Auld Yin,
It is so sad, and I saw it so often throughout my years of nursing. If only more of our seniors could have the love and support and interests that The Red Yin has!!!
Hi Karen…this is really different from your usual but great stuff..I didn’t know there was such a thing as watercolor canvas.
Fredrix make a watercolour canvas – I think it has been around for about 4-5 years. I used it a lot when I first got into painting miniatures, and found it a wonderful surface for rendering fine detail (working with a 20/0 brush), but then found it doesn’t reproduce so well in prints because of the texture. These little paintings used to take me about 3 weeks to do, but these days I can’t afford to spend that long on one artwork, so I then moved onto faster mediums.
Beautiful work Karen
Thank you so much Jacqui!!!!
Thank you so much Paulina!!!!
Such a poignant picture , excellent work Karen x
Thank you so much Irene, if only it just existed in a painting, but sadly, I think it is an image lived out in homes around the world.
A very beautiful painting that tells a story. I also love the fact that it’s such a small painting but very detailed.
Thank you so much for viewing my artwork so closely and thoughtfully. I loved doing these little paintings, but due to commissions haven’t had much chance to do them, so am just getting back into it now. :)
very very nice
Thank you so much Bobby!!! :)
this is incredible work!!!!
Thank you Catherine – I was very moved by the reference photo and just had to paint it – It is a sad image really, but one we can relate to.
