I think this must be as close to a photo as it is possible for an artist to create … it’s in a class of its own Karen.
Karen Hull replied

Simon Aberle
Fantastic! The colour in those eyes is spot on!
Karen Hull replied
Thanks Simon, the eyes are the most fun to do and cats have the most amazing range of colours in their eyes. I think I would have used 10-12 colours in each eye. Look forward to seeing more of your art in colour – you do incredible work with graphite – so can’t wait to see what you do with the colour!!!
linifer

Sharona
Very beautiful work Karen. I was showing my 5yo grandaughter your images yesterday – she was amazed – she could not believe they were not photos. She loves to do drawing and paintings herself.
Karen Hull replied
That’s lovely Sharona. They are so beautiful at 5. Our youngest, Sam, is 5 years old, whilst our older three boys are all well into their teens, but the youngest delights us every day. They are so honest. Most kids at 5 seem to love to paint and draw, and then sadly lose that urge as they get older. I hope your little granddaughter keeps that love alive as she grows older!!!
Sharona
So do I Karen – I try not to be biased :o)) but she is a very sweet and talented little soul. Thankyou
Karen Hull replied
Of course you’re biased, but you’re meant to be when you’re a Grandma and she’s lucky to have you!!
Katerina Willi...

Meg Hart
Oh..I see you got it right for once K..LOL…!! You are such a brilliant artist…Do you every have any problems getting these captures completed so perfectly?..How long did it take you to reach this standard…and how long to produce this..??.(questions, questions!)...I am in awe of your talent..!
Karen Hull replied
You are so lovely – thank you!!! I definitely have had problems getting a perfect portrait, especially when sent blurry, poor quality photos to work with. I’ve only been doing art seriously for about four years, but have definitely found that with heaps of practice the work improved a lot. I got a lot of inspirations from other artists as well. On average, it takes me about 8 hours to do these little artworks, but longer for larger ones.
Steph Granshaw
speechless….........
Karen Hull replied
Thank you so much Steph!!!
