Awesome!!!
bigbizarre
this shot is fantastic, but personally I think you cropped it a bit too much. Like when someone wants to show you something beautiful but holds it too close to your face for you to enjoy. but i agree with everyone else! Beautiful
Karen Willshaw replied
Hey there! Thanks for your comment. I actually haven’t cropped that much from the original image – the little guy was truly filled my lens set at 160mm – didn’t have time to change the focal length LOL

Thank you everyone for your positive comments – greatly appreciated :)

White tern ready to land ON YOUR NOSE!
That is an amazing shot
whalegeek
Splendid! Is this a fairy tern? I love this image. Terrific work!
Karen Willshaw replied
Hi there… No, it is a white tern Gygis alba. These little guys are often incorrectly called Fairy terns – the difference being the “Fairy” crown is black from bill to nape. The bill is orange-yellow and the legs are dull yellow. Hope this helps :) And thanks for your comments ~ Karen

Thank you everyone for your positive comments and time taken for making them. Greatly appreciated. Best “fishes” ~ Karen
whalegeek
Thanks for setting me straight, Karen. While I’m not good at bird IDs, this bird resembled fairy terns I’ve seen. Sigh…this proves I’m a whale geek, not a bird expert. :-)))
Karen Willshaw replied
Nahh!! I’m no twitcher… I incorrectly called it a fairy tern, until I was put straight. Just as well, otherwise I would have had incorrect information in my coffee table book! Cheers – Karen
