Sneak Preview of the Forward in my Book

What you are about to read is factual and based on a true story. The naes have been changed to protect the identities of the people involved.

Drug addiction is a life long disease. Like cancer, youu can put it into remission, but it can never be cured. Onec you have tasted the experience of taking drugs, you are forever the drug’s slave. There is always the temptation. You can choose to stay away from them, but if they are offered to you, it is nearly impossible to pass up the opportunity to experience the high, and the problems in your life. No one likes to feel bad, and drugs are a solution to a great amount of people to feel good. You don’t have to face life’s realities. You can control how you feel, and when you want to feel that way. The best thing to do is to never try drugs of any kind ever. You don’t miss what you’ve never had. Teach this to your children, and learn from the mistakes made by the charachters in the book, especially the main charachter, me.

One other important thing, if you know a drug addict, or anyone with an addiction problem, just accept the fact that there is nothing you can do about it. You can force someone into a situation where they can’t get drugs, but you have not cured them. A person has to make that choice on their own. There is something called a moment of clarity. This is some event of life changing experience that occurs, which affects the addict so much that they make the decision to stop using drugs and start really living life. Drugs lead to death of jail. I have almost died of a drug overdose, I thought I was invincible, and I have been to jail.

Learning how to live sober in very difficult, especially in the beginning. It can take a year or more, depending on how extensive the drug abuse has been. It takes at least this long for the brain to readjust it’s chemistry. It has to relearn how to produce dopamine. Dopamine is the natural chemical in the brain, which produces endorphins. Runners are famous for produce endorphins. It is like a natural high.

At first, you stare at the clock and you wonder how on Earth I can live life sober. Deal with life, face problems, and feel good again somehow. It is agonizing. You count the minutes till you can sleep and have some kind of peace.

Eventually, you do recover. The best thing to do is change as many things in your life as possible. Move, get new friends, take up a hobby, go on a vacation, just do something that will take you out of your habits, and change your routine. Do as much as you can to change anything that reminds you of drugs.

I opened my eyes and looked around the room. There were doctors, nurses, machines, and there were many tubes inserted. None of these sights meant anything to me. I had only one thing on my mind. Where is my purse? I didn’t care where I was or why I was there. I just wanted my purse because it contained my precious pills.

When you are reading this book, just remember that this is my past. I have put it behind me. Please don’t judge me, that is God’s job. Be happy that I have been sober for two years and do my best to be good to everyone.

No one starts off in lif saying, "Gee, when I grow up I want to be a drug addict or drug dealer, neither did I>

This is my story

SORRY that’s all for right now
