Shaka’s little life was nearly over – a colleague did a very brave thing to save him. She’s a tiny person and two burly tattooed guys were in the mall trying to sell two puppies. She demanded that they get water for the puppies who were barely moving, telling them she would not pay R150 each for dying puppies.
Bizarrely, both the men went to get water: at which point, she grabbed the puppies and ran!!!!
She trembled for about an hour afterwards. The men selling the pups are often seen about town, and are thought to steal the dogs to sell. Lisa felt it was Karma at work!! The pups were flea-ridden and nearly dead from dehydration, but we nursed them back to life. A friend took one, we kept Shaka.
So this is with great thanks to Lisa for her courage, and for the enduring joy of Shaka…
