Kara Maddox became interested in photography following the death of a loved one and from this experience, she looked upon photography as a means to record events that shaped ones life. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and currently lives in Prague, Czech Republic. She is a professional freelance photographer.
Her photography has enabled her to travel the world and to learn, witness, and record the amazing grace and beauty, as well as the atrocities and hardships that surround us.
Her interest in travel and adventure took her on a three week journey through Northern Ireland, using every opportunity to ‘capture’ the geography and people of this beautiful country. Later her travels would take her through many areas of the United States, and Europe including Greece, Russia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Spain.
The kaleidoscope of places and faces, but more so the human contact, is the aspect of travel and photography that is the most memorable. If one is fortunate enough to be able to travel abroad to enjoy and photograph other cultures for gain, then one should return something of value to these communities.
Kara was accepted into the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in beautiful Santa Barbara, California in the fall of 2001. She learned from some of the best photographers in the industry and has gained knowledge through careful observation and many hours of hard work!
