Be my lover on the other side
of this moment’s grace.
Tie your hopes to your fingertips and I will bring them to my lips
with a kiss.

Pine for me, and I will yearn for you.
Sheets will tangle around my legs
for you.

(I will forget the past and recall my dreams for you)

Be my lover when the earth is still.
I will wrap my words into the folds of the night,
curl up on the porch swing
and whisper them to your ear.

Barefoot, I will cross the stream to you
and relearn the feel of moss and water
and laughter, deep inside my throat,
for you.

I will not be able to breathe, with all my laughter there (inside me)
and you will wonder what is so funny
and why I am so crazy

for you.

Be my lover as the world fades away
and everything we thought was real
is for naught,
and everything we were taught
was never real
and the feel of you against me

is all I need to know.

This life was not meant for me.
With its cruelty and pain, and the desperate way
I ache for something more.

Something in the way of flowers in my hair
and the tender care
of sunshine.

I do not know you / but I sense you in the world
Somewhere.

Be my lover and I will place honey on your lips,
and life will be sweet (the way it was meant to be)
before bridges were built over streams
and bare feet no longer pressed
upon the earth.

Be my lover and the pain will be worth bearing.
Caring will be worth the caring,
and these flowers growing
at my feet

will be placed upon our table.

And in the morning we will wake
and take our tea beside
the lake, and sunshine will sparkle over
the mountains,
and you will come to me
and place a daffodil

in my hair.

Kara, you are so freakin’ talented!
This is beautiful, talking about a lover you have yet to meet.
I feel the same way- and I love it.
