The Mountain's Embrace and the Taste of the Sky

I travel the road, alone.

In intermittent bursts of clarity,
I understand my reasons;
but the journey is long
and my heart (occasionally) weeps.

With the need to scurry into the earth, and stay.

The landscapes change,
and with them I learn to be supple like the stream,

I learn to soak in the soil to breathe.

Then suddenly, like an embrace,
the mountains are there
to hold me.

I feel their presence in the deep, concave pressure
of my heart, and my lungs fill
with the fresh, mulberry oceans of the sky.

This is why;
why the mountains call me home
with the subtle secrets of the land.

I will stay here, while you hold me,
and trace the curves
of my hand.
