Finke River in foreground, one of the oldest rivers in the world just down from its source near Ormiston in the West MacDonnells National Park. This section is said to be around 400 million years old. It meanders about 600 km to the south to the western edge of the Simpson Desert. There was unusual amounts of water in it due to recent unseasonal rains. We camped at this spot and had it completely to ourselves – what a beautiful place! Photo shot just after sunrise.
Shot in mono and a little contrast added in PS, Nikon D200, 18-200 vr lens, f/16, 1/40s, 62mm, ISO 100, EV: -0.7
