Portrait of Mimosa by KanaShow

This is Mimosa, a rescued stray dog from Spain. She is around 1,5 years old chihuahua cross.

Her story is a tragic one. Someone has cut her tail off to get started with. She was found on the streets with her puppies (she is almost a puppy herself!) and the dad of them a couple of months ago. The whole family had been abandoned at the same time. It is unbelievable how people can do things like that!

All the dogs were taken to Triple A dog shelter which tries to find homes for the abandoned dogs. The shelter has hundreds of dogs and for a little dog like Mimosa it can be a very stressful and scary place, and so it was. She got very sad and depressed. Luckily she only spent quite a short time there and is now with me in Finland.

The puppies have got homes and so has the dad too, luckily.

I believe that Mimosa has been kept as an inside-house dog. She had no idea that dogs should pee and poo outside. She was scared of everything outside. She peed on the kitchen floor and pood on the bedroom floor. She was scared to walk thru the doors and to go in or out of the elevator. At first she was scared of me or anyone approaching. She would run scared away if anyone took a step at her way. I can only imagine what cruel things people have done to her to make her that frightened.

I am blessed with having such a lovely dog as Princess (also a Spanish stray). She has appeared to be the best dog-life teacher ever. With her help Mimosa has now learned to go potty outside, enjoy walks, not be scared of all people, and most of all, live a happy life as a dog. Princess even taught her to go to sauna where this photo is taken. :D

Your stories of redemption and salvation keep coming. I am happy to hear this little waif’s story has had a happy ending.

  • Yeah, it is very sad that many people just take a dog to be their toy or a piece of furniture. It is so wrong. When the dogs start to behave the way they do when not trained properly, people get frustrated and dumb them. It is not always easy to train an adult dog to actually behave like a dog but it can be done and it really pays off. Those dogs are filled with love and devotion. :)

Gorgeous capture of this little sweetheart Kana….I am so pleased she has you for her very own person..!! :)

  • Thanks, Meg! :) In fact I was only fostering Mimosa for 3 weeks. She has now found her own permanent and loving home, and is doing really well. I am so happy I had the possibility with Princess to show her the good side of life and lead her to the right way. In only three weeks this little traumatized and shy dog relaxed, got happier and braver and got started with learning to be a dog.
