This is Princess, a cruze español, meaning a cross breed dog from Spain. She was found on the streets of Benalmádena around November 2009.
I saw her picture in December on the website of Espanjan Katukoirat ry. It is a Finnish society trying to find homes for abandoned dogs of Spain and helping a few dog shelters there other ways too.
I fell in love. I knew this dog was meant to live with us. I asked about her, only to get to hear that the very same day she had been reserved for Germany. :( I was very sad. Two weeks passed and all of a sudden I got to hear that Princess was again in the seach of a home, and the German reservation had been cancelled! I reserved her instantly.
Princess flew to Finland on the 7th of February. She was skinny, barking very very loud and being apparently nervous and puzzled about everything she had just experienced.
We had snow, it was cold but she did not mind. :) When we got home, the first thing she did was jump on the sofa. That’s when I knew she would do just fine. And so she did!
The first night she slept in our bed. No wandering around, no peeing inside, just sound sleeping. What a dog! To my big relief, she did not even mind my rats.
This dog is the light of my life. She is a true jewel, a golden wonder! Smart, kind, obedient, cuddly, beautiful and very funny too! I could have never gotten a better dog anywhere. She is my best friend. I love her to bits. <3
The breeds of her we can only guess, but I tend to think there might be chihuahua, some small podenco and maybe some small sighthound involved as she loves to run and is very very fast. Her sense of smell is poor, but her sight is excellent.
I believe she was around one year old when she came. She had a lot of tartar on his teeth probably because of eating junk food and trash. That cleared up with a proper diet and bones to chew on. She had an eye infection and a slight ear infection too. The vet too care of those. Now she is in perfect health. She has gained about one kg and her coat shines like the sun.
Princess is called Princess because that was the name she had been given at the dog shelter in Benalmádena. Her way of being is very royal, so I could not possibly change that name. :D
On this photo Princess is wearing an awesome knit made by Tarolino (a friend IRL and here in RedBubble).
Picture is taken with Canon PowerShot G10 in May 2010 in my home in Sourhern Finland.
