A violent predator, through the darkness he crept,
While the family inside, tightly they slept.
Their black eyes closed, nothing they feared,
As this deadly monster their household neared.
The door eased open with barely a sigh,
And the deadly predator now moved inside.
He moved through shadow, tasking the best,
A young little creature he chose from the rest.
The little one bundled in dark arms of steel,
The predator left with his latest meal.
And the others, the hid in corner black,
Lest this murdering demon come back.
Yet another unfortunate creature taken in fright,
Yet he never repented nor sorrowed that night.
Hooked claws glinted in moonlight bright,
As the deadly predator truck out tonight.
One chop of the knife, and the living soul dead,
And on the floor the little one’s head,
And into the pot went the body small,
To be boiled and cooked and eaten by all.
Finally the predator had eaten his fill,
But hunger soon returned to torment his will.
So he crept back to sleeping house anew,
And stole their last child out of the blue…
The remaining family cowered in fright
While the panda-killer slept soundly that night.
And now this family is almost gone,
So will you please stop killing the pandas Tom?
(to my friend Tom the notorious panda-killer)
