love song for a suicide girl

at the shop, fingers flicking
searching for the saddest song
i watch from behind a discount stand
then buy the same cd
walking, then freezes, tilts her head
and whispers to the wind
i strain to hear the words
lay awake imagining what they could be
then like words she is gone and i sit
drinking coffee, staring
out a window a man holds a womans face
in the palms of his hands
and i wish i were that man
but even more
i wish she were that woman
