It is what it is.

Callous is the day with the sun in the centre
And no shade to soften my reality bites
The shadows are short and the light is harsh
And glares into every crack and scar
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for the night.

Cause soft is the night that conceals my all
When the lights that glow are soft and warm
And I can gently step my way to you
In the velvet darkness to the silk candle light
Let me never walk in the harsh noon light.

Compare me in the night then again in the day
See the shadows fall in my hollow sockets
Or see the eyes that show only your reflection
Intense in the day and gone in the night
Let my eyes see naught but the path ahead.

For the path ahead is full of you
And for that I am thankful and eased
From the noise and light that others see
Through choice though it do them no good
Let me see just the path and nothing else.

For I am happy with my head deep in the sand
And I’m happy for my ears to be stuffed with cloth
For my hands and feet to be bound to your cord
And above, above all else I am thankful
That I walk in the shadow of night.
