The Creator

gentle rain drifts from the heavens
grey clouds luminescent above
and kisses my cheek, burns my skin
softly dripping from my chin
the path ahead glows with a healthy sheen
of light reflected from above
and the soles of my feet burn as I tread
in puddles I don’t care to jump
this is not the world how it was
It’s the world I helped create.

and when the sun breaks through
so glorious and mighty
like a heavenly god reaching out
to part the curtain above
and imbibe me with its majestic warmth
til my skin dries and reddens
blisters and peels til I bear it no more
and lay panting and waiting like a beaten dog
this is not the world I was born into
it’s the world I helped create.

Sometimes I think we are no where near ready for the responsibility that being a human demands. Thanks for the creative and gentle reminder Michael. Let the healing begin.
