Batavia bow and cargo arch

Singleton Western Australia, Australia

Artist's Description

Part of the recovered wreck of the Batavia which was wrecked in 1629 on Morning Reef in the Wallabi Group of the Abrolhas Islands.

This section of the Batavia is preserved in a section of the Western Australian Maritime Museum in Fremantle WA.

Definitely worth a walk around this exhibit and to see the huge beams in their rough state which formed the inside of the ship

A touch of hdr to bring out the warmth of the timber, however, the exhibit is lit with soft warm lighting which also bring out the colour of the ancient timbers
