Ardvreck Castle at Historic Assynt, just outside Ullapool in Scotland. Seat of the MacLeods of Assynt from 15th century, transformed in 16th century to towerhouse. Historic Assynt was formed in 1997 to oversee the consolidation of the ruins of Ardvreck Castle and Calda House – the Inchnadamph Project.

This would be beautiful countryside to explore. I wonder how different it is now to when the castle was first built? Seems a very isolated place to locate it. :)george
It is very isolated, the Calda House also belonging to the family was just across a small stretch of water, both being on the same side of the loch.
