Pterostylis recurva or Jug Orchid belongs to the Orchidaceae family of which there are around 730 genera and 30,000 species around the world. The Jug Orchid is endemic to Western Australia and is an erect perennial herb to around 40cm high, with narrow leaves. Flowers are white with prominent green or brownish strips. Hood is formed by middle sepa and two lower lower petals held erect. Natural habitat is woodland and forest where it is sheltered (info field guide to Westeran Australian Wildflowers – Denise Greig).
