West Australian floral emblem. Green Kangaroo Paw or has blue-green strap like leaves. Flowers are deep green with red base and stem and are spring flowering. Stems are 45-90cm in height and the plant has a spread at the base of about 45cm. Very difficult to cultivate. Found in several locations in Western Australia Spring 2011, although not as many as in previous years. Flower emblem of Western Australia

I can’t wait to get to WA in my travels (one day!) to see some of your amazing and unique plant species like this one. In March we were in SA at Port Augusta and I photographed a Sturt’s Desert Pea (in my portfolio) and got a taste of some of the plant life that we in Tasmania, just never get to see. Great to see you have so many wonderful ones in your portfolio.

  • Spring is the best time – so much to see, so little time. If you ever get over here, let me know and if you are in my area, I can show you some wildflowers spots :)
