Artist's Description

The Glenfinnan Monument was built in 1815 by Alexander Macdonald of Glenaladale to commemorate raising of the Jacobite Standard – Bonny Prince Charles – in 1746. The figure atop the monument is of an anonymous Highlander. The tower was designed by James Gillespie Graham and stands on the shore of Loch Shiel in Lochaber area of Scotland, Scotland National Trust
