Pterostylis pyramidalis - Snail Orchid by 


Pterostylis pyramidalis or snail orchid is small and endemic to Western Australia. A clump of around 8 was found close to the base of a Banksia tree in the Baldivis Nature Reserve in WA. Spring flowering.

    I can see why it was so named … well captured !
    It reminds me a little of what I think are Greenhood Orchids in my backyard.

    We have a couple of areas that are quite damp in Winter and they have popped up a couple of times in different areas. Last year I salvaged a few and have a couple of blooms now.

    I’ve found these on our property this year, but due to where they are located I’m having problems getting ‘the’ shot. Well done on yours!!
