Graham Hay Twist
The creation was called To Twist by Graham Hay and was one of the exhibits in the Castaways competition held in Rockingham in WA. The creation is made of flat sheets of paper and I thought was one of the best on show and was quite elegant.

Great shot kala, has a real beachy, shell like abstract feel to it :)

Great abstract. At first you think its a wall of rock or something like that. How big is it? Great pic.
kalaryder replied
Can’t remember now, perhaps about 3 foot? It was so striking that the size did not seem to intrude on consciousness

Worked in old print shops many years. One of the tasks of the 2nd assistant was fanning sheets, allowing a thin film of air between and offsetting so the edge of each succeeding sheet could more easily be gripped. The lowly entry-level grunts have been making art like that shown above for half a millennium. No offense to anyone, just an observation.
kalaryder replied
None taken – but this person managed to display it and I manage to photograph it :)
