Eucalyptus youngiana
Eucalyptus youngiana or Large Fruited Mallee is a native Australian tree found in the south west north of Kalgoorlie and inland of Western Australia and in South Australia.
The tree is relatively small and has large bright yellow flowers, multi-trunked and grows to approx 11m in height with rough flaky bark. The mature leaves are broad and up to 150mm long. The flowers can reach 75mm in diameter and can show anything from yellow, red or cream. They show from late winter through to early summer. The gumnuts are large and very ribbed. The tree prefers dry climates and dry summers. Propagation is from seed with germinates readily. The tree is not under threat.
