Fremantle Maritime Museum
The Maritime Museum on Victoria Quay in Fremantle Wesern Australia, taken from the Rottnest Ferry as it came into the dock.
Fremantle is a short distance south by car and train from the City of Perth. There are numerous historic places to visit including the Round House, the other old jail, several museums including this one which houses Australia II, the boat which won the America’s Cup. Wondeful restaurants including Ciccerello’s and Kailis for seafood, harbours where fishing trawlers moor and a most interesting wind sculpture called the Fremantle Doctor – this is a wind that springs up most afternoon straight of the sea and has been the life-saver during the heat of the summer. Stroll the old part of town and check out the great architecture, or hire a little 3 wheel scooter to save your feet, picnic in the parks or visit the famous Fremantle markets. This is one place that you can visit time after time and still find something new.

I am sadly ignorant about your part of the world, and glad to read about and see photos of it. From the thumbnail size, I thought this would document a maritime accident. Okay, I’m not that current about architecture, either. But I like this building, and I love the clear full-frame shot, K.

Thank you Jan – it is an odd shape, from the front (streetside) it is quite conventional
