STS Leeuwin II is a 3-masted barquaentine sail training ship. It is owned by the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation, a private non-profit organisation based in Fremantle, Western Australia.
The largest operating sailing ship in Australasian waters, the Leeuwin was launched on 2nd August 1986 and commissioned on 12th September 1986 to provide an adventure training facility for young people. Since then, over 11,000 people have participated in a series of voyages.
The ship was designed by Len Randell, a local naval architect, and built at Australian Ship Building Industries. It has accommodation for 40 trainees and carries a total complement of 53 people made up of five permanent crew and eight volunteer crew.
