I’ve seen this one and don’t know what it is either. I’ll hunt through the photos I took at the Banksia Farm in Mt Barker to see if it’s there (it should be – he reckons to have one of every banksia that grows in Australia)

Thanks Peter, I have hunted on the calm florabase and not come up with anything, if no luck I will have to print and post a copy to the Kings Park guys – they were pretty quick to answer last time.
Can you send me the email link to the Mt Barker guy – I would like to add to my list of ” research contacts ” Thanks
Rainy

GORGEOUS – will have to look thru my shots from the day & see if I found a botanical marker, but if I saw one think you would have too
kalaryder replied
No, I was looking as I had seen it before and couldn’t find a marker. LOL

Lovely image and flower.

Without seeing the leaves it is hard to say exactly what this is but I am beginning to think that it might not be a banksia. There are several trees that have similar flowers – bottlebrush, dryandra, hakea, the myrtle family (certain eucalypts) etc.etc. What do you reckon?
kalaryder replied
Well it was in the middle of the Banksia Garden in Kings Park, I think I may have one with the leaves, will check it out – happily open to suggestions but I think I will have to contact the Park to be sure.

Another possibility I’ve just found is Hypocalymma angustrfolium (White Myrtle) They are said to be found in Banksia Eucalypt woodland near Perth.

I have just sent an email with the second picture to the Kings Park guys – will try the name mentioned above, thanks.
