Eremophila Nivea – Silky Eremophilla

This native Australian plant ha been declared rare and is currently under rehabilitation, at, amongst other places, Kings Park Botannical Gardens.

Eremophila is a large genus of 214 species, all native to Australia.

Eremophila Nivea is a small shrub growing to around 1 – 1.5 metres and about the same wide. It has pale mauvy-lilac flowers which are tubular in shape and beautiful soft grey leaves.

It is best suited to dry climates in well drained soils. The hairy foliage is subject to fungal diseases in more humid regions.

Although it has been under cultivation for some years, it is still classified under the category of high risk of extinction in tthe wild.
