Soren Larsen
Masts of Soren Larsen. Brigatine built 1948-49 at Nykobing Mors in northern Denmark. Now based in Auckalnd for sail training adventures. Of which, she has had many of her own:
1987 Flagship for Australian Bicentary re-enactment voyage of First Fleet. led a fleet of 8 ships on 22,000 mile voyage from England to Australia.
1978 given new decks and masts, yards and spars and the Onedin Line ship.
1978-1982 was in French Lieutenant’s Wpman, Count of Monte Cristo and Shackleton, which involved sailing north to the Arctic Cirle into the pack ice of Greenland.
1991 became 1st flagged tallship to round Cape Horn since 1936.
1992 won her class in Transtlantic Tallships Race via NY & Liverpool.
2000/2001 undertook world voyage – The Global Odyssey 2000, sailed 30,000 miles to Britain via USA, Canada & Europe, returned via Canaries, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Easter Island, Pitcairn and across South Pacific.
