Moeraki Boulder
Moeraki Boulders are found near Dunedin NZ. These fascinating round boulders are found only on one stretch of coastline and resemble, what I think, dragon eggs would look like. At the base of the sandy cliff, can be found an another couple of round boulders which seem to have been just laid, with virutally no markings. This boulder had, what resembled to me, scales.

Great shot!
I have similar shots taken at the same place. The boulders are built up from calcite over a period of several million years. The largest of the boulders at this location is about 2 metres diameter. Over time, the weathering effect of the sea wears down the outer layers leaving hard veins of crystallised calcite as seen in this shot. I found them absolutely fascinating.

Great shot. I also have one image on Red Bubble of these boulders but I must say yours is much more interesting with the ‘scales’. I love it!
