Incredible rendering of light – which enhances the symbolism all the more. As usual your sense of texture, color, and composition evokes the best of the Old Masters work…

just love the subject matter and how you have composed the whole scene. the textures are so stunning.
    your work is very impressive!
oh man i wish you could paint one of my photographs!
do your works take a long time for you to do? ;-)

  • Kain White replied

Thanks again! Yeah my paintings take a while. I usually spend a lot of time avoiding my paints until one day i just get sick of mincing around, then i go crazy for a few weeks and paint up a storm.
Which photo/s would you like to see as a painting?

  • sowhat

    sowhat

This, like all the work you have posted is brilliant! I love the lighting and the long shadows. Like others, I am interested in your technique, but that is only one aspect. Your concepts are so expressive and thought provoking. You must be a deep thinker!

This really made me almost cry. I think it’s one of your best. I love the lighting and how your people seem to melt into the land around them.
    Lovely.

  • Kain White replied

Thanks a lot. Again i struggle to express via this damn keyboard! I think what comments like yours tell me is that we should all remain true to our own intentions and feelings in our lives and art practices. Because the paintings that are received in such a positive way are ALWAYS the ones that i thought “To hell with what everyone else may think, I’m gonna PAINT” Then when it’s finished most people like it! God certainly has a sense of humor :)

“sense of humor ” is certainly one way of putting it!
Your work reflects the deeper you. So you should always paint what you want.
All evidence aside some days…we’re artists, not merchants. Though we want our pieces to be loved and well received, it’s almost always the deeper pieces or the most contraversial that move others the most.
And that’s as it should be.

OK…no more serious for me today! :P

great symbolism kain, engages the viewer longer than just a glance. That is what makes good art.
I thought about putting a playstation next to a major work and see how long the attention lasts on either. lol. I’m taking bets.

  • Kain White replied

    Thanks John.

Damn, i just tried that test. I have good and bad news. The bad news is the playstation won. The good news is i set a new lap record on Gran Turismo!

  • JohnScott

    JohnScott

ha haaaa yeh grand Turismo. lol. Interaction is the key, most don’t engage old forms of traditional art nowadays. Now there’s a test.

  • FAIRIEWOMAN1

Well done. I see isolation and yet they are facing outward at the same time, surveying the world from their hilltop, a sacred tor. The world tree, the axis mundi, grows at center and shelters them with its foliage. So while they first appear isolated, these women are an aspect of creation too, and right at its center no less. I think we all need time alone now and then to ponder and just BE.

  • Kain White replied

Wow, great analysis. I wonder, how do you read my mind?!

They seem to be feeding the earth with their essence, paying homage to her and absorbing what they need from her all at once. While the tree is like some kind of receiver that draws in the power of the heavens. I love the play of the light and darkness.
