Too much blue or much too blue
Too much blue or much too blue belongs to the following groups:
THE SISTERHOODI’m sure we all have art/war stories this a true one:
I once made the dubious decision to have a permanently ‘open’ studio where the public could come and watch me working (shudder), on one occasion a large, formidable lady leaned over a painting that I was working on and, waving a perfumed hand imperiously in its direction said ‘There far too much blue in it…you need to take some out.’
Too much blue! TOO MUCH BLUE!! How can it be possible to have too much blue in a painting? (“Ludwig there’s too many horns in that 5th symphony” – ridiculous)
I quoted Sartre, “…may I ask whether anyone has ever accused an artist who has painted a (blue) picture of not having drawn his inspiration from rules set up a priori? Has anyone ever asked, “What painting ought he to make?” It is clearly understood that there is no definite painting to be made, that the artist is engaged in the making of his painting, and that the painting to be made is precisely the painting he will have made.” (in this case, a blue one) By the end of the quote her (blue) eyes had glazed over (her brain had clearly glazed over years before) My attempt to free her from the prison of her blue-less world had failed. I carried on making my (blue) painting.
this is one of the most useful quotes on the planet for an artist, I highly recommend that you learn it off by heart, then the moment that anybody has the temerity to suggest that there may be some miniscule flaw in your latest masterpiece you can bring it out and beat them over the head with it.

Haha! That’s something everyone should think off then someone’s talking bullshit about their work. This is something I will have against my teachers in my school. Gosh.. They have too many old comments on everything I do.
Love it, thank you!

I only wish I had the memory to remember that quote! I didn’t get into a particulr art school once…for the simple reason – I used alot of blue! Tough! I still ended up painting! anyway! I really thing some people feel that they can verbalise anything that crosses their minds….well, we all live and learn! Great story Kafka!S

What is it about this Blue… It inspires me and pushes me on… I can’t get away from it… it’s like a beautiful piece of music to me… from the first moment I saw your work, I knew you had it too… this insatiable, frustrating, bittersweet, addictive, intoxicating connection to blue… a relationship? I still haven’t even scratched the surface in exploring all I want to do with blue…. strength for the journey… brilliant quote… already printed out and stuck on my studio wall!

not enough blue,i think josef k would say
interesting manifesto” art for art`s sake” or art for nobodies sake
i think it is the artist`s choice how much or how little of a colour he wishes to use
