Designated as an E 9 and built in 1947, it’s powered by twin V-12 diesels producing 2600 horsepower. Originally running for Union pacific between Chicago and the west coast, it then ran out of Boston. It’s last work was pulling the “Auto Train” between Virginia and Florida.
