I don’t believe in Ghosts. Not even a little.
The Catskill Mountains in New York are incredibly beautiful all year long, though they are most known for the Fall foliage. Painters, writers, photographers, musicians, sculptors… all have found their muse lurking in these great forests,
That the woods are haunted, in that there is a palpable sense of mystique when traveling them is legendary. This perhaps explains why artists find them so inspirational. It takes no imagination at all to feel that one is moving through time in these woods, and there is certainly a sense that one would not want to meet the night while still on a trail here. I have been in miles and miles of forest and woods throughout the state, but the Catskills are a unique place that one feels more than sees. Other areas, mostly in the Hudson Valley, have this vague, haunted feel to them as well. It is hard to explain the feeling, but I’m sure a few of you know it . It feels like the Earth itself is wide awake and watching you, if that makes sense.
There are a few great trails for novices, but for the adventurous these woods are quite unforgiving of the careless, and those without quality maps and gear are begging misfortune. The least of which would be a very long and uncomfortable hike… perhaps at night.

Thanks Brad, I haven’t found a way to delete a shot myself. Frustrating feature of RB.
