Yes, unfortunately, most cultures which have encroached and transposed themselves upon us believe that all things are ‘dead;’ rock, earth, trees, water, and, sadly, sometimes, even their own people.
Indeed, if one is of the right mindset, if one opens the soul, all things are alive. It is this embodiment of spirit which the Apache feel the movement and presence of the Gaa’he or ‘Mountain Spirits.’ The Mountain Spirits ensure the well-being of the people by protecting them from epidemic diseases and enemies.
