On game day at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, it’s baseball (and beer) inside the park and a carnival in the neighborhood. From street musicians to vendors to the myriad restaurants and bars of Wrigleyville, half the fun of a Cubs game is the festival for the senses after the contest.
Foremost amongst the urban artistes are the famous “Bucket Boys” who fill the air with percussion, and the streets with curious suburbanites. Employing only empty buckets, mismatching drumsticks, sinewy muscle and raw talent, these troupes bang out tunes and entertain post-game crowds all around the stadium.
This photo freezes the flying hands of the Bucket Boys mid-stroke, classically capturing their performance and the party vibe of the neighborhood.
