The Future is Here by jyruff

Pitch black pacific nights
transforms with city lights.
Financial mecca of the pacific
looms into the future of lasers and lights

where the sky once stood
and the moon had shown

down on a sleepy lagoon
a few thatched huts
under swaying palms
children played with pigs.

Brushed with tropical breeze

Honolulu City lights
pierce with neon eyes

Where once a naked boy had stood
among reeds that grew
With mud wriggling between his toes
and no financial woes

played so quietly within the peaceful night.

His fantasy in full flight
could never have seen this sight.

Honolulu city lights from Sand Island Bridge.

Funny you should mention the sixties Joe, because when I saw this, I thought to myself, “It wasn’t like this when I passed through in 1960 on the way to Australia” !!LOL Cheers Neil

  • Yea Neal, I was thinking the same thing , how things have changed and when I think back to my child hood I remember thinking (and drawing) “future cities”) that looked just like this and thinking (at that time) … some day it will be like this and I would get so excited because I couldnt wait to see/feel how it would be to actually live in it …and I remember also dreaming about “little black boxes” that we would all have that put/kept us all connected together world wide with instant contact and all available knowlege at the touch of a botton, hence the cell phone/tablet comp, and someday we will all have a chip implant that is activated and controled by our brain waves/thought, so the nano chip implant will free our hands and lesson our baggage and just become another part of our brains lol! …God forbid the day when our every thoughts will become every ones thoughts and all knowledge wil bevery ones knowledge…. I thing the Earth will one day become one living/thinking organism haha …who knows what we woule invent by then ? Take care Neil
