Artist's Description

16″ × 20″ original hand painted with oils

Well I have let myself paint this by instinct and taken this interpretation as far as I think I want to go.
As an abstract interpretation of an abstract heavily layered digital work masking so much, it has the colors, the forms, composition ,the fantasy spaciness of a dream world imagination takes you to in a world full of …masquerades.

This world,of highways and skyscrapers, our eden, is still a jungle forest of animals and sex for all the games we play in our primitive ways.

There are 10 faces or masks, (10th one is not as obvious, its part of the 3 faces in a row, located to the right of them, the lips are between the legs and eye is under her chin).
The four faces on the right plus the six in the main figure makes 10, ( that is four plus six faces/masks, four six…(masked phonetic joke – for sex) four are watching and six ,is sex (not a joke really) just another layer.

Of more interest is in the connecting four faces of the crouching spirit creature.
They are from left to right layered and go from smaller to larger creating a 3d realistic perspective in an abstract design.
One of the ways it does this is by size from small to large as I already mentioned.
The other is what I find most interesting (as pertaining to this masquerade subject matter) is the layered way in which the faces/masks interchange there positions in relation to each other, adding to that surreal world of masquerade, never knowing for sure what is really what and things not being what they at first seem to be. Or even worse for the mind, being two different things at the same time …this is the masquerade of life we all play.

For example ,the smallest mask on the left is at first glance clearly behind the profile mask next to it ,yet if you take the eye of the profile face and use it for the second eye of the figure in back , the figure in back now comes to the front and the profile disappears.
And the side looking profile can in turn take the eye of the main face of the spirit creature next to it. The profile now turns instantly forward looking ( profiles cheek becomes his nose) so much so that you can see profile change back and forth from front to side.
You will see them Both at the same time if you are looking fast enough.

As for the main face which seems to be the face in front will take a back seat and hide behind the fourth even larger face of the sheep/dog/animal, which now borrows its left eye from the spirit face and becomes at once the Real face of the creature.

… Just very interesting how art can create these things in our minds so layered and masking each other like in real life.

The three main body’s (the man figure helping the woman up, the woman wearing the mask of comedy/drama, (life is but a stage), and the crouching non gender spirit figure with multiple faces? //the Camilion? … I will just leave this to/for your own interpretation, ( go find your own masks in this for I have told too much already)..I know one person who understands this all so clearly, the person whose work I am translating, and it will stay just between us.

The theme of this painting is broken hearts of which there are 5 depicted.

The main one is split in half.
Two are lying on the ground
One is on its side with the tip pointing to the left
The last one I will let you find yourself…all five are broken.

If you cant see them right away I will tell you they are large (I’ve always admired people with large hearts lol).

Once you see them you will not be able to look at this work without knowing its abstract side…………………………………………………………………………..We break not only the hearts of others but our own hearts as well with the masquerades of life we play. ………………………………………………….

This is for the people who see more hearts.
OK I lied about 5 hearts , there are ten (for ten faces).
There is a small one fused on to the comedy/drama mask
Another small tattoo heart (with a hole in it where the little devil bit it) on the man figures ankle.
There are two hearts in the four faces together on the mans back.
The 2 faces on the left pair up to make a heart and
the 2 pair on the right also make a heart …and
there is a black heart under all those hearts on the mans back and it is the deepest layer.
The black heart is over shadowed by the last heart I didnt tell you about the first time (in the five originals).
It is the largest of all the hearts
standing straight up
and the tip is resting on the bottom edge of the painting at the females front leg where it goes off the page.
It is made up of hundreds of small pieces.
Actually its the whole painting.
The right side is blue and curves up to the top right.
The left is redish salmon and curves up to the upper left.
It is the only heart that is not broken,it is in fact being made.
An imaginary heart, is a halo of hope surrounding and permeates within the whole painting.
Also the blue area is not without its own masks either.
Besides the little winged devil standing on the man spirits foot the leaves are made up of scull face/masks and I even have my dogs faces to the right of her butt.
And there is a group of people hiding from the spirits behind the man spirits left leg.

So now you know the whole story of how a abstract bunch of color and lines can mean the whole world to me.
