Leaving Keehi Lagoon is always an exciting adventure, for as soon as you leave the lagoons protection you are sitting in 10,000 miles(17,000 kilometers) of raw pacific ocean and exposed to such strong trade winds out here that your boat will completely turn on its side with every strong gust coming through the islands deep valleys..original seascape oil on 3x primed canvas 16″ × 20″ n hand painted by Hawaii seascape artist Joseph Ruff.

Now that looks like fun. I sailed once when I was in Maui! It was a great time.
    You DO love color!

  • Thanks Marriet, it is fun but its even more exciting because being out here in the middle of the Pacific ( which isn’t peaceful for long) you get the full effect of 10,000 miles of sea the instant you leave the protection of the harbor your out there in the middle of it , gusty trades n all coming down the island valleys in sworls and hitting your sails so hard it almost knocks you over!

Well, this is simply gorgeous……I have been watching your work in SoJie13 and I have to say that I have not browsed your portfolio before. WOW….that colors are just vibrating off the screen at me. You really do such an awesome job with color!!
As you know I am in the midst of being thrust into leader ship…..so I better go and get back to work…..but I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for your encouraging words. I really appreciate it. I will be back to have a browse what the show is over!!! lol
    BEAUTIFUL WORK!!

  • Awww Elizabeth, you are so kind with your words..I do love color ..Thats why I use only oils ..just love the saturation ..and I have learned a few good ways to really make colors pop!mostly with undercoating and placement of "enhancing colors in key surrounding areas (color placement next to eachother is so much more important than just more and more bright colors or even atmospheric perspective (which is so effective in landscape luminosity..Thanks for taking out your personal (busy) time for just me ..you Frannie Mary (and many new others) are all becoming so dear to me I feel spoiled already for just being the new kid!..well I may be not a kid ..but you all are great “moms” to me always taking care of things and being so dependably responsible for all of us ..Thank Liz.
