Two Perry class ( admiral Perry) schooners with their newly configured sails, racing in the great Trans-Atlantic race as a beam of sunset light strikes across the water onto the lead boat. This race by the schooners with their newly configured sails cut the time for crossing the Atlantic to under ten days (was 3 weeks with the older frigates), thus enabling the emergence of ocean passenger, postal, and freight commerce and enabled the spread of the industrial revolution from Europe to the Americas. 24″ × 36″ Fine Art Seascape Oil Painting – original work hand painted in oils on 3x primed canvas, by Hawaii Seascape Artist Joseph Ruff

Thanks, Woodie. I love the ocean, I wish you could see all the colors I put in that deep blue – it sparkles like a fire opal from Lightening Ridge.

Stunning work! Beautifully rendered water and waves, gorgeous color, and I love the tranparency of the sails!

Thanks Angie, The sails were the most fun! At first I wanted the transparency in the center, but put them on the edge to high light, add tension, and to fill the sails with wind. It also cleans and adds sleekness to the boats profile, and gives the painting a bit more character and elegance to an already magnificent sea.
