From Bodie’s mom: “Bodie (aka Rocky) had been living with a Navy family. They got transferred to Japan and couldn’t take him. They gave him up through the Golden Retriever Club of SD. His foster parents were neighbors of the family. When we came to look at Bodie, his foster mom couldn’t been there. She got attached to him right away. They had a dog of their own and the two dogs really liked to play together. She was sad to see Bodie go, but knew it was for the best. She called me a couple of times after we adopted Bodie, just to make sure he had a good home. It’s hard to be a foster dog mom.”

“We adopted Bodie in August of 1998. We weren’t sure we were ready for another dog, because we had just lost Brandon, our first golden, 2 weeks before. We had called the club to have them put us on the waiting list. But when they called and said they had a dog that needed a home, we went out to see Bodie, just to “take a look.” Well, he didn’t even look like a Golden Retriever. His foster parents had given him a summer haircut, so he looked more like a Lab. He was full of energy. When his foster parents brought out the leash, Bodie jumped straight up in the air-all four paws off the ground! But when I sat on the floor, Bodie came over and put his head in my lap. I knew from that moment he was our dog."
