This art piece is inspired by the U2 song ‘When I Look At The World’. Bono wrote about someone in a crisis of faith looking at someone who has no doubts at all. I also like to interpret it as someone trying to understand God and the fact that it is quite difficult to understand God’s behavior given the world affairs. God looks at the world and sees a beautiful woman (Jolie). The beautiful woman herself contemplates and is aware of her declining beauty and that she will have an unknown amount of time to live. Do I need to say I consider Angelina Jolie to be one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in a magazine, on the internet or in a movie? ;-)
The art piece is called ‘the occult’ in the sense that occult also means:
- Beyond the range of ordinary knowledge or understanding; mysterious.
- Secret; disclosed or communicated only to the initiated.
- Hidden from view.

Lyrics of ‘When I Look At The World’:
“When you look at the world
What is it that you see
People find all kinds of things
That bring them to their knees
I see an expression
So clear and so true
That changes the atmosphere
When you walk into the room
So I try to be like you
Try to feel it like you do
But without you it’s no use
I can’t see what you see
When I look at the world
When the night is someone elses
And you’re trying to get some sleep
When your thoughts are too expensive
To ever want to keep
When there’s all kinds of chaos
And everyone is walking lame
You don’t even blink now, do you
Or even look away
So I try to be like you
Try to feel it like you do
But without you it’s no use
I can’t see what you see
When I look at the world
I can’t wait any longer
I can’t wait till I’m stronger
I can’t wait any longer
To see what you see
When I look at the world
I’m in the waiting room
Can’t see for the smoke
I think of you and your holy book
While the rest of us choke
Tell me, tell me, what do you see
Tell me, tell me, what’s wrong with me"

love it, wonderful and very indentifiable as yours
As long as it doesn’t get boring. ;-) Glad you like it!

I think you have captured the essence of Jolie’s inner heart here.
All the media hype there is about her just intensifies the mystery of her.
I am wise enough to know that what may read is likely the viewpoint from an observer and far from the real truth.
I think the world loves a mysterious woman and always will though….
