I had never heard of mushroom hunting until I moved to East Central Illinois. Aparently, these muchrooms are very tasty and people flock to the woods in April to find them…. I didn’t have to go far to find this one. It was growing right outside my front door in with our tulips.
Don’t tell your location…people will be in your yard! :o) This isn’t even one of my favorite wild edible but it DOES have a neat texture when eating. The US is defonately the ‘Morel Kingdom’ when it comes to mushrooms……sadly, people don’t always know there IS life beyond the morel. Lovely Gray fellow!
