Big old Eucalyptus Cladocalyx, commonly known as Sugar Gum…Malmsbury, Victoria.
The sugar gum has excellent tolerance to drought and exposure and the timber is used for construction, furniture, flooring, fencing, etc. Traditionally, it was used for spears and clubs by the aborigines and the burls made into bowls. The gum secreted from the tree acted as a gluing agent. The leaves were used to line the inside of shelters (gunya).
